I've just dipped my toe into the blogosphere ... and it's lovely and warm!
I'm 51, divorced, was born in London of Jamaican parents. Just lately I've been yearning to run away from all the stress and strain of feeling washed up and middle-aged, but have decided to fight a rearguard battle against self indulgence, so am still here in South London.
My working career has been chequered, to say the least. Started as a secretary, trained to be a journalist, then retrained to be a college lecturer. Haven't been really enamoured with any of my jobs and am still searching for that position (or maybe business) that gives me zing.
Life revolves around my teenagers: Wes (15) and May (14), who are just eighteen months apart and on the cusp of adulthood (albeit with toddler brains sometimes). The're at that awkward kidult stage and one of the reasons for starting this blog is because for the first time, I'm finding that we're increasingly locking horns.
Should my daughter be allowed to go a busy seaside resort with her friends, without an adult? Is it okay for my son to explore London by himself?
Peace and love.
